This is a starting draft, written specifically around what this site actually collects and how it actually works, not generic boilerplate. It reflects current UK law as of August 2026, including the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 changes that came into force earlier this year. It is not a substitute for a solicitor's review before publishing, particularly given real customer data, including uploaded vehicle photos, flows through this site from day one.
Who we are
Ed Autocare ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website, edautocare.com.

What we collect, and why
If you submit a PPF quote request: your name, email, phone number, vehicle make, model, and year, vehicle registration number, the coverage you're interested in, your timeline, budget range, any notes you add, and any photos of your vehicle you upload.
We use this to price and respond to your enquiry. We can't do that without it, so the legal basis is that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.
If you submit a general enquiry: your name, email, phone number, and message. Same basis, responding to a request you've made.
If you use the detailing booking option: your name, email, phone number, and preferred contact method, your vehicle's registration, make, model, year and colour, its current exterior condition and the level of interior attention wanted, any notes about your requirements, your postcode and details about the work location, whether private working space is available, and your preferred timing. This is stored against a booking reference and also used to prepare a WhatsApp message to us. Same legal basis as the enquiry forms, necessary to respond to a booking request you've made.
If you browse the site generally: we use Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you individually across visits. It only tells us aggregate information like which pages are popular and how fast the site loads.
We do not currently offer accounts or sign-up on this site. Nobody's data is used for anything beyond responding to what they've actually asked us to do.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run this site and respond to enquiries. Each only sees what it needs to do its specific job:
- Supabase (UK/EU-based hosting) stores the data itself.
- Resend sends the email notification when you submit a form.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- WhatsApp (Meta), only if you use the detailing booking option, since that's how the message reaches us.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
PPF quote requests, detailing bookings, and general enquiries: 12 months from the date of submission.
Uploaded vehicle photos: 12 months, deleted alongside the enquiry they're attached to.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances
- Ask us to restrict or object to how we use it
- Ask for your data in a portable format

Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, you can complain to us directly using the contact details above. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at any time: ico.org.uk.
Children's data
This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. [Recent UK legislation introduced a specific new obligation around children's data, worth confirming with a solicitor whether it applies here given the nature of this business, rather than assumed not relevant.]
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
